CONDUCTORS PROPERTIES
CONDUCTOR & ITS PROPERTIES
A conductor of electricity is a material or substance which allows to flow of electric current when subjected to a potential difference.
While selecting a material for specific application in electric field, its properties are to be considered.
1. Electrical Properties
2. Mechanical Properties
3. Thermal Properties
Let us discuss in detail.
ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES
- Good Conductivity
- Low electrical energy dissipated in the form of heat
- Low resistivity
- Low temperature Resistance Ratio
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
1. Ductility
It is the property of material to allow it to draw into wires.
2. Solderability
- It is the property to join wire to a particular contact.
- Withstand Stress & Strain.
- Easy to fabricate
- High Mechanical Strength.
- Durability
- Low Cost
- Malleable
THERMAL PROPERTIES
- The metals which are good conductors of electricity are also good conductors of heat.
- Melting:
It is the process whereby energy supplied changes the state from Solid state to Liquid state without a change in Temperature.
